Summary
The first Sudan ebolavirus outbreak in Uganda began in Gulu and spread to Masindi and Mbarara districts. 425 cases and 224 deaths were recorded (CFR 53%), at the time the largest Ebola outbreak ever documented. Healthcare workers including Dr Matthew Lukwiya, who led the response, were among the victims.
