Summary
A Sudan ebolavirus outbreak in Mubende and Kassanda Districts of central Uganda infected 164 people and killed 77 (CFR 47%), including 19 healthcare workers. No licensed vaccine exists for Sudan-strain; a Phase 1 trial of the Sabin Vaccine Institute's cAd3-EBO S candidate was initiated mid-outbreak but the outbreak ended before efficacy could be assessed.
